Blueair 605 Features And Build QualityPremium and classic design at its best. Blueair 605 retains its timeless console design from the previous version. At 20 x 26 x 13 in dimension, the air purifier is certainly not compact where you could squeeze it in a tight corner. The 35 lb galvanized steel body feels hefty and premium from the norm. Unlike plastic that will off-gas at some point, the powder-coated exterior ensures no toxin emission. On the sides, there are air inlet and outlet plus bottom casters to ease its mobility. As an added bonus karma point, Blueair 605 is also eco-friendly made with 100% recyclable parts.Moving on to the controls and usability. There are only 3 big buttons with each having an LED icon to indicate what mode the air purifier is in. Let's start with the middle air flow control button. The fan speed button will display complete grey if there is no power source (OFF). Outer circle blue with all bars grey when power cable is plugged in. In operation (ON), 1 blue bar = minimum speed, 2 blue bars = medium speed and 3 blue bars = maximum speed. Same goes with the Wi-Fi button where it will be in full grey when there is no Wi-Fi. The button will blink when is ready to connect and blue if is connected. As for the filter button, color will be shown grey + blue when no replacement filter is required. Color change to orange when the filter is in need of replacing. After changing, hold the button for 5 seconds to reset the status.Available in iOS and Google Play, you could download and use Blueair Friend app via the comfort of your bed. Once you have added 605 into the Blueair Friend app list, you can begin remotely control the air purifier. Basic function includes adjusting the 3 speed, LED display intensity, and timer. Advanced feature includes night mode, child lock, and scheduling (hours and days). You could also access real-time outdoor air quality data and other usage logs. With the add-on purchase Blueair Aware monitor, you could enable Auto mode feature. This lets the machine change speed autonomously to adjust to current room air quality.Rounding up the Classic air purifier notable features. 3-stage HEPASilent Technology filtration with 3 speed, casters, Smartphone control. Easy one-minute filter replacement with no screws, hooks or tools needed. Finally, zero ozone emission, CARB certified, Energy Star rated and 5 years warranty.Being a console air purifier, there is multiple air inlet from the sides. Blueair 605 has the best 150 - 650 cfm airflow delivery rate and 775 sq. ft. coverage for its Classic series. Perfect for large room sizes like living hall, dining room, lounge, or kitchen. There is plenty of power to spread out across the 3 fan speed that you will not feel underpowered at all. At 5 air changes an hour, clean air will be swiftly distributed across the room via the air purifier outlet.CADR is equally impressive (above 500 point) and again best in its Classic series. dust CADR stands at 500 cfm, pollen CADR at a crazy 640 cfm and smoke CADR also at 500 cfm. Any figure that passes 300 cfm point is automatically qualified as excellent. Blueair 605 works best against seasonal allergies or hyperallergic/ asthmatic person.
Blueair 605 HEPASilent Technology combines the effort between electrostatic and mechanical filtration. Nearby pollutants will first suck inside the air purifier via the motor fan. The encapsulated particle-charging chamber will straight electrically charge the pollutants. This resulted in the fine airborne pollutants more adhere to the particle filter. As a result, the filter will have an easy task in capturing them at 99.97% efficiency down to 0.1 microns in size. Same goes with the SmokeStop Carbon filter that has a boost efficiency with charged gas based particles. Lastly, all filters are ultrasonically bonded with waterproof, natural antibacterial polypropylene fibers. In other word, antimicrobial protection. This is the opposite of most filters that use chemical-based bacteriostats/ mold inhibitors.Continue on, all Blueair filter is made with low dense, gradient structure design. This prevents particle of all sizes from re-releasing out even if the filter is under heavy load. Blueair Classic 605 also help reduce its surrounding ozone level. This is because the purified air has less ozone concentration than the level in the air.For the high airflow output, 32 - 62 dB(A) noise level is actually a lot quieter than similar range model. This is because the low density filter allows air to flow at a much lower pressure. That said, you can hardly tell the differences in real life situation. Noise is whisper-quiet at low speed, normal at medium speed and audible moving up the notch. Thanks to the advanced fan setup, 15 - 100 W power consumption is reasonable given the airflow return. Without default auto mode, you have to manually keep the speed at low to help reduce the electricity use.A premium air purifier deserves a premium calling price, although I'm sure not everyone can take it. However, Blueair 605 price tag is not the biggest stumble block. the short filter lifespan and high annual filter replacement cost is. To enjoy Auto mode feature, you will need to buy the Blueair Aware monitor that will push the price up further. So if you can't cough out that much, consider the cheaper alternative below.Blueair 605 first before purchasing. Understandable so give it a try at retailers like BestBuy, Walmart, or target. Once you see what you like, consider placing the order in Amazon as it offers good deal and 30-days return policy. Blueair official website is also worth a try if the selling price is less than what Amazon puts out. You can also enjoy Blueair Filter Club loyalty program that help reduces the filter cost slightly.Bring to a conclusion, we are happy with Blueair 605 overall performance bar the price. It seems 83% of the 4-5 stars reviewers agreed with us. Most praises coming from the abundances of airflow that pulls in anything from the path. The outstanding smoke and odor filtration are another regular praises. Lastly, people love how Blueair manage to make a difference against seasonal allergies. As for the bad part, there are around 10% for the unhappy 1-2 stars reviewers. Most have their concern on the noxious chemical smell emitted from the air purifier. Other minor complains include Wi-Fi pairing problem, faulty unit, and filter replacement cost. Compare to the advantages/ disadvantages, there are definitely more things to look forward. We did not encounter any of the above issues in our test unit. If you have a concern with the chemical smells, contact Blueair before purchasing one.

Blueair Pro XL Features And Build QualityPremium office air purifier it is, Blueair Pro XL is nothing short of that with solid build quality in and out. Being the most powerful Blueair purifier ever made, Blueair Pro XL is very bulky and heavy at 20 x 44 x 10 in size and 71 lb weight. While mobility is not great, Blueair Pro XL comes with exceptional airflow performance along with 3-stage HEPASilent technology, filter replacement indicator, Air Intelligence Module, 3 speed with Auto mode, color display LED indicator, zero ozone emission, CARB certified, Energy Star rated and 5 years warranty. Like all Pro series air purifier, there is no Wi-Fi support, no timer or even remote control.Continue with controls and usability and functionality, Blueair Pro XL is also very easy to use as it is basically two main button operation machine. Turn on the unit by clicking on the PLUS button and Blueair Pro XL will run in speed one with one blue bar light between the buttons. To increase/ decrease the speed simply adjust between the PLUS/ MINUS buttons and the blue light bar will update the current speed accordingly. To activate Auto mode, click on the PLUS button on speed 3 and the word AUTO will light up indicating the mode is active. To deactivate auto mode, simply reverse the previous step. There is also a two bar columns displaying the levels of airsuspended particles (PM2.5) and gaseous contaminants (GAS). 1 green bar equals good air quality while 3 bars (green, yellow and red) represent high level of particles or gas). All display will slowly disappear after 30 seconds and will reappear when you click on any of the buttons. Lastly, a red filter light will light up when filter replacement is required.Being the largest and highest capacity Pro air purifier has its advantages. Blueair Pro XL has the widest purifying coverage to date (1180 sq. ft.) that can cover almost any room size, meeting room, cafeteria or lounge. Airborne particles are pull in through the side inlet via three (YES 3) energy-efficient fan and released out at the other side of the outlet. At 5 air changes a hour, 210-990 cfm airflow are distributed evenly and swiftly by either a 3 manual speed or Auto mode.Like the outstanding airflow performance, Blueair Pro XL has the highest overall CADR we ever reviewed. You have the Dust CADR at an amazing 950 cfm, pollen CADR at 900 cfm and smoke CADR at 800 cfm. Incomparable stats as you could see via the comparison table above. As with Blueair Pro M and L, Blueair Pro XL is also powered by the same HEPASilent technology that combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration. At an 99.97% effective rate of capturing particles as small as 0.1 microns, the purification began with the ionizer charging on any particles that travels in. With particles like dust mites, pollen, bacteria electrostatically charged, one of the 3 particle filter will effortlessly trap those none-gas based contaminants while either 1 of the 3 SmokeStop filter will handle the rest of smoke and odors based pollutants. At the end of the journey, the air purifier will released cleaner air that contains even lesser ozone than before.Like all Blueair filters, Blueair Pro XL filter media is made from waterproof, natural antibacterial polypropylene fibers rather than chemical coated base. The filters also comes in V-shaped design that prevent particles from escaping as there is more filtration depth under the same piece of filter. You would thought Blueair Pro XL noise would be at an unsatisfactory level given how strong it's airflow output is. In actual fact the 32-58 dB(A) noise level is more than reasonable where low speed is whisper quiet and around normal conversation noise at max speed. Power consumption however is clearly reflected upon usage volume. At the power rate between 33-256 W, the higher the speed Blueair Pro XL is running, the higher the electricity bill it will be. Fortunately Air Intelligence Module is already bundled in so no problem enabling Auto mode for optimize energy consumption. Not for the faint-hearted, Blueair Pro XL is one of the most expensive air purifier we had ever reviewed. Filter replacement cost is also at another level that is beyond reach of most common folks. While its recommended for office use, only considered Blueair Pro XL for home if you are absolutely sure you can afford it.

Blasting it to full speed, the noise output is at 56 dB(A) which is audible but still within white noise territory. As for the filter replacement cost, the particle filter set will set you back around 25 dollars every 6 months or 50 dollars annually. Very reasonable for Blueair standard. There are plenty of places you can get your hands on a Blue Pure Fan air purifier. Build quality is also impeccable as you would expect from this price range. For all the performance it can churn out, the dimension stands at only 20 x 31 x 10 in although 46 lb weight is no doubt heavy. What you do get standard from Blueair Pro L include a 3-stage filtration, HEPASilent Technology, filter replacement indicator, 3 speed with color display, zero ozone emission, CARB certified, Energy Star rated and 5 years warranty. There is no Wi-Fi support, no timer, sleep mode or even remote control (Auto mode is available with the addon Air Intelligence Module). On to Usability and functionality, Blueair Pro L is as simple as it get with only 2 buttons for fan speed control. How the control panel works is extremely straightforward. By default there is no display as the air purifier is on standby mode. Click on the PLUS button to turn on Blueair Pro L and one blue bar (speed 1) will appear between the buttons. From there you can adjust the fanspeed between 1 to 3 using the PLUS and MINUS buttons. To turn off the unit, simply click on the MINUS button till there is no blue bar left. An indicator word AUTO will appear and the air purifier will automatically adjust the speed according to the contaminant levels. Also with the AIM addon is a two bar columns that show the levels of airsuspended particles (PM2.5) and gaseous contaminants (GAS). 1 green bar represents low particle or gas level while 3 bars (green, yellow and red) represent high level of particles or gas. Do note when the display will slowly disappear after 30 seconds even when the unit is running, simply click on any of the buttons to reactivate the display. As for filter replacement indicator, a red filter light will only appear when filter replacement is required.Abundant of airflow distribution (140-660 cfm) is the sole reason why you should gun for Blueair Pro L. Supporting a maximum 780 sq. ft. purifying coverage at 5 air charges an hour, Blueair Pro L is ideal for all situation and places especially meeting room. Powering the 3 speed air purifier is two powerful yet energy-efficient motor fans that drain particles in via the side air inlet. As long as the airborne contaminants fall within its purifying range, Blueair Pro L can quickly spread and distribute clean air across the room.Along with the strong airflow delivery rate, Blueair Pro L CADR is one of the best in air purifier history. All figures exceed the 400 level points, starting with dust CADR is at 630 cfm, pollen CADR at 600 cfm and smoke CADR at 490 cfm. Probably the only comparable model is Blueair Pro XL which you could see via the table above. What's powering Blueair Pro L is the highly acclaimed 99.97% efficient rate HEPASilent technology along with Particle and SmokeStop filter. HEPASilent Technology would work in the sense that both electrostatic and mechanical filtration joining side-by-side in combating airborne contaminants. How this works is particles that flown inside the air purifier would be subject to electrostatic charge. With all particles charged up therefore more clingy to the filter, Blueair particle filter will have an easy task trapping micron size allergens, bacteria and viruses. Same goes with the SmokeStop filter where it will focus on gases and odors instead. At the end of the cycle, Blueair Pro L will release out cleaner, purified air that contribute even lesser ozone that normal unpurified air.Blueair Pro L filter media is ultrasonically bond and made with waterproof, natural antibacterial polypropylene fibers that promises no mold and bacteria growth. The filter V-shaped design allows more filtration to be squeezed in so mroe particles can be captured and prevent from leaking out. The V-shaped format also closes like a book thus prevent you from being exposed to trapped contaminants when replacing the filters.Blueair Pro L 32-55 dB(A) noise level is surprisingly low given how strong and punchy the airflow delivery is. Thanks to the German Engineered fans, at low speed is whisper quiet while at max speed is no more than normal conversation noise. 22-170 W Power consumption on the other hand is moderate to high depending on the speed Blueair Pro L is running. At max speed the air purifier does drain a fair share amount of electricity especially if you are running 24x7. We recommend purchasing the addon Air Intelligence Module to enable Auto mode for better energy management. An exceptional air purifier, Blueair Pro L is very expensive for home use and that is excluding addon cost for the optional Air Intelligence Module. Annual filter replacement cost is also skyrocket high (double filters for both Particle and SmokeStop) where you could buy at least 2 decent brand new air purifier. Office use Blueair Pro L is perfectly fine but it's simply too expensive for average joe like us.

Blueair 205 Features And Build QualityThe smallest and lightest Wi-Fi ready air purifier in its Classic stable, Blueair 205 air purifier stands at 17 x 21 x 8 in size with 24 lb in weight. Made from galvanized steel that guarantees no chemicals off gassing unlike most plastic materials, Blueair Classic 205 has one of the best build quality around and is exceedingly durable. Best of all you can fully recycle the air purifier when it reaches its lifespan. As for mobility, Blueair 205 is still considerably bulky although it comes with side handles that would work even better if casters is included (optional purchase).Like all Classic models, there are 2 ways of controlling the air purifier however we will focus on the second method later on. The first and most common way is using the main buttons via its top control panel. You can control the fan speed, connect to your Wi-Fi devices and check filter status. Each buttons comes with live LED display that will show the mode you are currently in. To further elaborate, let's start with the fan speed button, 1 blue bar will light up if you are in first speed, 2 blue bar for second speed and so on. For the Wi-Fi button, the LED blue light will continue to blink if is ready to connect and stays blue if is connected. Finally for the filter button, LED icon will light up in grey + blue by default and change to orange when replacement filter is needed. To reset the filter button, simply hold the button for around 5 seconds.Other standard features you would find include a 3-stage filtration with HEPASilent Technology, 3 speed, smartphone integration, filter replacement with no screws needed, filter replacement indicator, zero ozone emission, CARB certified, ENERGY STAR rated and 5 years warranty.
Blueair Friend appAs mentioned earlier, Blueair 205 is Wi-Fi ready where you could pair with your smartphone to operate the air purifier remotely. Available in both Android and iOS, first you have to download/ install Blueair Friend app on your mobile phone. Once everything is in order, you could adjust the fan speed, LED brightness intensity, setup timer, enable/ disable child lock, night mode and finally advanced scheduling for speed/ LED based on either hours or days. Other than that, you can keep track outdoor air quality in most major urban areas and few other miscellaneous AQ logs. If you have the optional Blueair Aware monitor, you can also enable Auto mode for autonomous operation and monitor room air quality based on your various indoor activities. While both Blueair 405 and 605 has excellent purifying coverage, Blueair 205 on the other hand has a moderate purifying coverage catered for medium size room. At 280 sq. ft. applicable area (5 air charges per hour), Blueair Classic 205 would be best suited for bedroom or any room size that does not exceed the recommended coverage. The 3 speed 75 - 220 cfmairflow delivery is consistent with air coming in from bottom, back and side of the air purifier.Moving on to the CADR, expect an average of dust clean air delivery rate at 200 cfm, pollen CADR also at 200 cfm and smoke CADR at 180 cfm. Decent return although far from the best which you could compare via the specification table above. All Classic air purifier utilize the same HEPASilent technology that promises 99.97% efficiency filtration rate against particles as small as 0.1 micron. No exception here as it combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration where all incoming particles will be electrostatically charge. With all particles charged, pollutants like pollen, mold dust mites will be more clingy to the filters thus reducing the chances of these particles from getting away. Same theory would applied to the SmokeStop filter where it will focus on chemicals, smoke and odors instead. Additionally, The filters is designed in gradient structure and thermally bonded which further prevent particles from escaping even under heavy load circumstances. Another benefits of Blueair 205 filter is it uses natural anti-bacterial polypropylene fibers which is incidentally waterproof. Bacteria and mold would be inhibit from growth as these microorganism require water to thrive. Finally Blueair Classic 205 Smokestop would also slightly reduce surrounding ozone level by releasing cleaner and less ozone concentrated air.Despite being the smallest Wi-Fi Classic air purifier, Blueair 205 noise level is similar at 32 - 56 dB. At low speed, it's perfectly silent without any fan noise while noise is clearly audible as you move up the level. Same pattern with the power consumption, power used is less than a light bulb at low speed while at around 20 - 80 W if you toggle between the speed during operation.Blueair classic 205 air purifier is the cheapest Wi-Fi ready air purifier in its Classic series however, there are many cheaper alternatives with wider purifying coverage that you could also considered. As for Blueair 205 filter replacement cost, both particle filters are considerably expensive but it is still the least expensive in the Classic range whether in 6 months’ time or 1 year. Like most Blueair Classic air purifier, you can purchase a Blueair Aware monitor to check surrounding air quality or enabled hidden Auto mode feature via Blue Friend app.

Ideal for large room size including living hall, master bedroom, lounge or kitchen. At 5 air charges an hour, airflow is consistent and fully adjustable via the standard 3 fan speed. As with all Classic series air purifier, you have comprehensive air inlet located at bottom, back, sides while air outlet is at side and mostly top.Clean air delivery rate is equally remarkable tally with airflow delivery rate. You have the dust and pollen CADR stand high at 300 cfm while smoke CADR is at 280 cfm. The strong return means hyperallergic or asthmatic person can truly benefit from it. To compare with other Classic Blueair purifiers, click on the above specification comparison link.Blueair Classic 405 uses the familiar 99.97% efficiency rate HEPASilent Technology that manage unwanted airborne particles as small as 0.1 micron via electrostatic and mechanical filtration. How the air purifier works is electrostatically charge any incoming pollutants first before passing on to the filter media. Pollutants like mold, pollen that are charged will be more clingy to the particle filter thus increasing the capturing efficiency rate. Likewise the SmokeStop Carbon filter will work the same way except it will focus more on electrostatically charged smoke, gas and odors. Instead of using chemical-based bacteriostats that inhibit bacteria and mold growth, Blueair 405 filters are made with natural, waterproof anti-bacterial polypropylene fibers. Additionally, the thermally bonded, gradient structure filter design also prevent particles from escaping the filter despite under heavy load. Finally Blueair 405 also slightly reduce ozone level by releasing cleaner, less ozone concentrated air.32 - 52 dB noise level is very reasonable thanks to the lower density filter and fan placement. Similar range model usually has higher noise output at higher/ maximum speed although in real-life usage, no other can tell the differences. At low speed it is perfectly find for use at night time. 15 - 90 W Power consumption is also impressive which uses less than a light bulb at low speed. On average you should expect an energy consumption that is no differences than other household appliances.Blueair 405 is cheaper than 605 but still relatively expensive in our book. Annual filter replacement cost on the other hand is darn expensive especially if you utilize it on a daily basis. In a short period of 2 - 4 years, the air purifier would easily exceed the original cost of the air purifier. On top of it all, to gain the access on air quality monitor/ auto mode feature, one must purchase Blueair Aware monitor (sold separately) which is also an add up cost. If Blueair brand is a must yet you have a smaller budget, consider the alternate smaller Blueair 205 or Winix air purifiers.

Blueair Sense+ Air Purifier
Blueair Friend AppBlueair Sense+ is Wi-Fi enabled so naturally it support the company Blueair Friend app or Amazon Alexa. Available in both App store and Google Play, the main use of the app is of course transform your smartphone into a remote control. Via Blueair Friend app, you could remotely change the 3 airflow speed, timer, activate child lock/ night mode, schedule speed/ LED at specific hours and days. You could also access indoor/ outdoor air quality data in most major urban areas and few other miscellaneous logs/ tracking. With the optional Blueair Aware monitor, Auto mode is possible to monitor and change the air purifier speed autonomously based on your indoor pollution level.Blueair Sense+ has a decent mid-range level purifying coverage at 186 sq. ft. It loses out to many top tier air purifier but it’s understandable given the small boxy framework. On positive note, the motion powered 3 speed does deliver solid and consistent 35-150 cfm airflow distribution that you would expect no less from Blueair. Fair to say that Blueair Sense+ is more a bedroom rather than a full living room air purifier. As with the airflow delivery rate, CADR return is decent but not spectacular level. You have the dust CADR at 140 cfm, pollen CADR at 150 cfm and finally smoke CADR at 120 cfm. Feel free to compare that CADR stats with other air purifers via the compare button above.
Like Blueair Sense, Blueair Sense+ uses HEPASilentPlus technology which is essentially an electrostatic and mechanical hybrid filtration. Instead of using 1 set of filter, Blueair Sense+ uses 2 waterproof, natural antibacterial polypropylene fibers particle filters that each comes with an active carbon sheet specifically for gaseous form pollutants. At an 99.97% effective of capturing particles as small as 0.1 microns, incoming particles like germs, smoke, odor and bacteria will be trap by the initial particle filter. Particles that manage to bypass the filter will be ionized by the ionizer and subsequently capture by the second particle filter. At the very end of cycle, Blueair Sense+ will release out purified air that contains even lesser ozone then surrounding unpurified air.Replacing the filters is slightly tricky as the front panel is non-removable unlike most air purifier. You would need to turn off name, pull out the power plug, put the unit down with the backside facing up, open the bottom cover and only then you remove the 2 filter cassettes. Thankfully its a half to yearly job depending on how bad your indoor air quality is.Blueair Sense+ has typical Blueair filtration setup which means the 29 -50 dB(A) noise level is reasonably subdue. At low speed, the air purifier is whisper quiet and noise level will increase no more than normal conversation as the speed move up. Power consumption is actually pretty good around 7-45 watts. For long-term energy-saving operation, it would be wise to invest in Blueair Aware where you could rely on the machine to optimize the purifying speed based on surrounding environment (in other words Auto mode).Blueair Sense+ might not be the most expensive air purifier around, but for its airflow performance and purifying coverage return, there are far more better options available (don’t get us started on the optional Blueair Aware). Annual filter cost is between reasonable to slightly expensive depending on surrounding environment and usage frequency. On the whole if you value premium build quality and compactness, Blueair Sense+ is no doubt the right choice for you.
