Design - Starting with the latest and most powerful model listed here: Honeywell HPA300 HPA True Allergen Remover air purifier. A functional, conventional black design focuses mainly on usability with surrounding air inlets and a top outlet. Measures at a 20.8 x 22.4 x 10.8 inches dimension, it is smaller than your typical Blueair, Airmega but still will hold a presence in the living room. The 17 pounds weight is not the heaviest, so you can easily grab onto both sides of the handle to move it around for room-to-room cleaning. Build quality is good, with off-gassing detected during our test. It is also AHAM approved, and the extended 5 years warranty is the biggest testament to its reliability. Our unit has surpassed the warranty period with zero issues encountered.

Honeywell HPA300 control panel

Functionality - Honeywell HPA300 top control panel is straightforward to use despite not being within an eye-sight view and touch-sensitive buttons. Depending on your home air quality situation, you can cycle between the 4 cleaning modes (Germ, General Clean, Allergen, and Turbo). Allergen mode is best used during allergen season, General Clean mode is for everyday air cleaning (recommended), Germ mode is for cold & flu season, and Turbo mode is when airborne pollutants run wild. The 2, 4, 8 hours timer can be selected to turn off the machine after an interval. The dimmer button allows you to adjust the LED display brightness between High, Low, and off. The 2 electronic filter change reminders (top True HEPA bottom, Pre-filter) accurately alert you to clean or replace the filter when it is time. You can reset the electronic filter check individually by tapping the button for more than 2 seconds. No built-in sensor to support AQI and auto mode.

3-stage HEPA filtration with 465 sq. ft. and 300+ CADR.

Coverage - Here's where the higher variant Honeywell HPA300 air purifier distinct itself. The stronger airflow distribution covers a wide 465 square footage purifying coverage. Suitable for large room sizes e.g. a studio apartment, living hall, kitchen, basement, garage, playroom, nursery home, office, and of course, bedroom. Tally with that is the excellent clean air delivery rate that outputs a high dust CADR at 320 cfm, Pollen CADR at 300 cfm, and a matching Smoke CADR at 300 cfm. Anything surpassing the big 300 is good for everyone, including asthmatic patients, babies, children, and elderly.

Honeywell HPA300 Filters

Filtration - A 100% mechanical filtration that releases no ozone. Honeywell HPA300 runs on a 3-stage HEPA filtration with a few decades of remarkable track record. The non-washable carbon pre-filter traps large particles like dust, hair, and lint while protecting the inner HEPA filter. The extra carbon sheet will absorb smoke and odor from food, pets, cigarettes, and even musty mold smells. Unique in HPA300, the 3 pack True-HEPA filter traps 99.97% of microscopic particles as small as 0.3 microns that manage to bypass the pre-filter. No ionizer is on sight, which works in favor of those with hypersensitive lungs.

Noise and power - While not the quietest air purifier here, Energy Star certified Honeywell HPA300 runs silently at most speeds except for turbo mode. Just leave it further away from the bed, and you can sleep soundly without any noise distraction. Power consumption is acceptable for a high airflow delivery rate air cleaner. There is no auto or eco mode here to assist with energy management.

Honeywell HPA300 air purifier review

Pricing - The most expensive model in its series but still priced under 250 dollars before discount. Honeywell HPA300 is a cost-friendly yet powerful true HEPA range air purifier. It might not be blessed with many wonderful features, it compensates with a no-nonsense filtration performance that is second to none. We are not a big fan of the carbon pre-filter, but the biggest concern is the high filter replacement cost that requires you to replace the 3 HEPA filter in a set. If you could live without the auto mode, Honeywell HPA300 could be the only air purifier you ever need. Among all Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover, this is the one that we will thoroughly recommend.

Design - One level below the highly popular HPA300, Honeywell HPA200 is a good alternative for those that need a good old air cleaner with zero fuss. House in a familiar design that is more practical. The smaller 20.8 x 17.7 x 10.1 inches dimension is the right size for most homes with minimal spaces. Adding to that is the 14 pounds weight allows effortless room-to-room purifying. Build quality is excellent despite the plasticky built and surrounding air inlets. It will have no issue outlasting the 5 years warranty given.

Honeywell HPA200 control panel

Functionality - Plain and simple. Honeywell HPA200 air purifier 6 touch-sensitive controls are straightforward to use with dedicated LED indicator light. The power/ mode button allows you to choose between Allergen, General Clean, Germ, and Turbo. Allergen mode is ideal for allergen season to protect you against allergies like sinusitis and hay fever. General Clean is for everyday air cleaning when the room air quality is good. Germ mode is used when flu viruses are spreading wild. Turbo mode is only used when you need the maximum air cleaning performance to deal with unhealthy air quality. The 2, 4, 8 hours timer mode helps you manage the air purifier runtime to converse energy. The dimmer button allows you to adjust the LED indicator brightness between Off, Low, and high for night use. Lastly, there are 2 parallel electronic filter change lights: a top True-HEPA filter and a bottom Pre-filter button. Both indicators will remind you to change the filter when it is needed to do so. Just tap and hold on to the button for 2 seconds to reset the electronic filter check light.

3-stage HEPA filtration with 310 sq. ft. and 180+ CADR.

Coverage - Second fiddle to HPA300, Honeywell HPA200 air purifier AHAM certified 310 square footage is ideal for medium-sized rooms including bedroom, living room, garage, basement, playroom, and kitchen. CADR mirror the airflow delivery rate output at 190 cfm for dust, Pollen at 180 cfm, and smoke at 200 cfm. Only smoke CADR passes our 200 cfm benchmark so if you're particular about this, consider the top variant HPA300.

Noise and power - The noise level is relatively quiet, depending on your running fan speed. No auto mode here, so if you want absolute quiet with zero white noise, place the air purifier a few feet away from you. The Energy Star Rated power output is good with the reduced airflow output. Just keep Turbo usage to a minimum when you need to converse energy.

Filtration - Using the same 3-stage HEPA filtration as the rest, the non-washable carbon pre-filter traps large particles like dust, hair, and light gas pollutants from food, pets, cigarettes, and VOCs. The certified dual HEPA filter captures 99.97% of microscopic particles down to 0.3 microns, including pet dander, dust mites, mold, pollen, and germs, before releasing clean air. There is no ionizer here as the entire purification is powered 100% by mechanical filtration with no ozone or harmful byproducts emission.

Pricing - While technically HPA200 price tag would sandwich between HPA300 and HPA100, the lack of available online discounts makes it less appealing to get one. We highly recommend you go with the higher variant HPA300, which offers better value with much better CADR ratings. Using 1 less HEPA filter, the annual filter replacement cost is lower but not the cheapest on the list. If upkeeping is a big thing for you, the lowest variant HPA100 below, might suit you better. In short, good HEPA air purifier but far from the best.

Design - Want HPA300, but at a fraction of the cost? The affordable Honeywell HPA100 air purifier would be the best pick. Measure at the smallest size of just 13.5 inches in width, 13.9 inches in height, and 8.9 inches in depth; it is by far the most versatile air cleaner in its series. You can place it at the bedside or table without worrying it will topple over. The light 8 pounds weight makes it very portable and friendly for those that depend solely on it. Build quality is spot on, with no sign of off-gassing or leakage detected. You're getting the same 5 years warranty despite the entry-level price tag.

Functionality - Like the above models, the Honeywell HPA100 top control panel is easy to use with clear LED indicators. The "Leaf"/ speed button allows you to choose from Allergen, General Clean, Germ, and Turbo modes. Allergen mode is best used during allergen season, General Clean mode is for everyday use, Germ mode is for cold & flu season, and Turbo button is used when the indoor air quality is at an unhealthy level. The timer button will cycle between 2, 4, 8 hours that can be scheduled to shut down the air purifier. The dimmer allows you to turn on/ off the LED indicator lights or adjust the brightness to low or high. Separate Check Filters button and Check Pre-filter button will illuminate when either HEPA or carbon pre-filter is worn out. You can reset the electronic filter change reminder by tapping and holding the button for 2 seconds. No built-in sensor here, thus the omission of AQI, Auto mode, and sleep mode.

3-stage HEPA filtration with 155 sq. ft. and 100+ CADR.

Coverage - Being the lowest variant, Honeywell HPA100 air purifier has an AHAM recommended room size of just 155 square footage. The small cleaning radius limits its usability to the bedroom, kitchen, tiny living room, or equivalent size. The clean air delivery rate is at the lower end, so it might take time to completely clean the air in a home. Dust CADR output is around 106 cfm, while Pollen and Smoke CADR sis at 100 cfm. On the flip side, Honeywell HPA100 runs silently in most cleaning modes except Turbo. You can use it in the bedroom during nighttime. The energy usage is low too, due to the subdued airflow delivery rate. It will not add much to your electrical bill, even when you leave it running 24x7. Don't worry about the missing auto mode, as HPA100 is Energy Star certified with up to 40% energy efficiency against similar category models.

Filtration - Running on the most basic setup, Honeywell HPA100 uses the ever-reliable 3-stage filtration that never fails to clean the air. The first-stage carbon pre-filter blocks PM10 particles, smoke, and odors from passing through. It will also protect the HEPA filter to prevent it from being damaged or clogged. The single HEPA filter removes 99.97% of fine particles as small as 0.3 microns, including mold, mildew, pollen, pet dander, bacteria, and viruses. No ionizer or UV light here as everything runs purely on mechanical filtration.

Pricing - For less than 130 dollars after applying an online discount, the Honeywell HPA100 air purifier is the cheapest in the group, and rightly so. The cutting cost measure includes reduced airflow performance and filters. Maintenance-wise, the filter replacement cost is also the lowest as it utilizes only 1 HEPA filter annually. If you are ok with the smaller coverage and basic features, Honeywell HPA100 would be an excellent buy for those that need a budget-friendly HEPA air purifier.

Design - A beautiful, tower-sized, filterless air purifier that runs solely on reusable filters. Honeywell AirGenius 5 is perfect for those that need clean air yet has no intention to abide by the constant filter change. It will not eat up a lot of interior space at a sleek 11.5 inches in diameter, 29 inches in height, and 14 pounds in weight. You can effortlessly carry it around the house for room-to-room air purifying. The classic air grille surrounds the body with a blue accent at the bottom. The removable panel can be easily taken out for cleaning and fitted back tightly. Build quality is excellent, guaranteed by an official 5 years warranty including electronic motor and parts.

Honeywell AirGenius 5 HFD320

Functionality - Focus on the premium touch screen control. The Honeywell AirGenius 5 air purifier has an extra cleaning mode over its lower variant model. Starting with the night-favorite Sleep mode that outputs the lowest speed but returns a completely silent operation. Germ mode slows down air movement inside and forces germs/ biological pollutants to stay longer in the filter for capturing. Best used to counter cold & flu. General mode is the default setting that activates every time you turn on the machine. The hay season combat Allergen mode removes tiny allergens like pet dander, mold, and pollen that are hard to capture. Max cleaning mode is used when the room air quality peaks at an unhealthy level or when you're away for quite some time.

Moving away from the speed mode, you have an advanced timer button that can be scheduled for up to 12 hours of shutdown time. The optional Oscillate rotates the purifying direction side to side to boost air circulation. The dimmable accent light can be set to low/ high, or you can turn it off to reduce glare. The filter reset button restarts and turns off the red indicator light after you have replaced the filter.

3-stage HEPA filtration with 250 sq. ft. and 160+ CADR.

Coverage - For a permanent air purifier with washable filters, Honeywell AirGenius 5 can cover AHAM-certified 250 square footage of space at 5 air changes per hour. Suitable for medium room sizes like a bedroom, small living room, kitchen, finished basement, or playroom/ study room. Airflow output is consistent but not at a spectacular level. The same goes with the clean air delivery rate with dust at 160 cfm, pollen at 170 cfm, and smoke CADR at 161 cfm. It will take a while to clean the air, but that's expected from a washable air cleaner.

Noise and power - Noise level is virtually silent thanks to the QuietClean technology. You will not hear any noise in Sleep mode and only mild white noise at Max Cleaning Power. Power usage is very efficient that uses electricity less than a light bulb. Running Honeywell AirGenius 5 all day will have zero impact on your electricity bill.

Filtration - Runs on the patented Honeywell AirGenius 5 QuietClean ifD technology, the washable pre-filter traps large particles like dust, hair, fiber, and lint commonly found in a household. You can vacuum the filter periodically to extend its usage life. The main ifD filter removes 99.9% of pesky allergens in the air, as small as 0.3 microns. This includes mold, pollen, pet dander, bacteria, and viruses. The electronic ionizer diffuses charged ions that attach and pull down airborne pollutants for the ifD filter to capture. All the filtration above is reusable, so there is no recurring cost to contemplate unless you opt for the odor-reducing pre-filter upgrade (recommended). Just make sure Honeywell AirGenius 5 is well-maintained for optimal performance.

Pricing - While it is the most expensive variant in the lineup, Honeywell AirGenius 5 is the best filterless air purifier to go for if you want a washable pre-filter and the ifD filter. It offers the best value at a fraction of the price bump. There will be no recurring filter replacement cost going forward unless you opt for the odor-reducing pre-filter upgrade. Regular filter cleaning/ vacuuming is necessary, as with all washable air purifiers. Since you're saving a lot on the filter, this should be your priority going ahead.

The highest lineup in the series. Honeywell AirGenius 5 HFD320 is not your typical filterless air purifier. It is a hybrid model blessed with innovative technology. There are 2 other lower variants for its AirGenius lineup, but AirGenius 5 offers the best bang for the buck. If you need a hassle-free air purifier to kick start your journey to cleaner air, this is the one.

Design - The smaller, cheaper, yet familiar Honeywell AirGenius 4 HFD310 air purifier. House at the same tower shape at 29 inches in height and 11.5 inches in diameter, the flask-shaped design stands out from the yet does not compromise the functionality. You have surrounding ventilation that pulls air in from top to bottom at all angles. The 13.5 lb weight is fairly portable, where you can grab up to the back handle to carry it around. The fitting is tight, with no signs of off-gassing or uneven gaps. The 5 years warranty will ensure nothing falls apart even after many years of usage.

Honeywell AirGenius 4 HFD310 control

Functionality - Moving to the controls. Honeywell AirGenius 4 HFD310 is easy to use despite the lack of auto mode. Choose from the default General mode that works best for everyday use or the Sleep mode that runs at the lowest speed. On a bad day, you can choose the allergen mode that deals with seasonal allergens like hay fever during spring/ fall or the Max Cleaning mode that runs at full speed to quickly remove airborne pollutants. Timer mode can be set to turn off the air purifier after 2, 4, or 8 hours. Light dimmer mode allows you to set the LED indicator light brightness to low or high. Oscillation activates side-to-side purifying to improve air circulation like a fan. Check Filters Reset reminds you to replace the filter after an interval time. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to reset the filter red indicator light.

3-stage ifD filtration with 250 sq. ft. and 160+ CADR.

Coverage - Despite being the second-tier model, Honeywell AirGenius 4 HFD310 washable air purifier can purify the air of up to 250 square footage radius at an AHAM certified 5 air changes per hour. Is it best used in small to medium room sizes like the bedroom, dorm, or home office desk with limited spaces. CADR is at 160 cfm for dust, 170 cfm for pollen, and 161 cfm for smoke. Not the best, but far from the worst as well.

Noise and power - The QuietClean technology keeps the noise down. You will barely hear any echoing fan sound. Use sleep mode when trying to get a good rest without distraction. According to Honeywell, power consumption is less than a light bulb when running at the lowest speed. Our test unit can testify to that, as our utility bill remains the same.

Filtration - Honeywell AirGenius 4 QuietClean ifD technology is an effective, hassle-free, washable filtration that you can reuse over and over again. The initial pre-filter captures large particles and prevents them from clogging the ifD filter. While the pre-filter is washable, you can opt for the premium odor-reducing pre-filter that specializes in removing odors and smoke particles. The patent ifD filter removes 99.9% of the air's finer airborne particles, including mold, pollen, pet dander, and germs. The ionizer releases ions that bond with positive ions pollutants in the air and pull them down. The heavier, fallen pollutants will be eventually captured by Honeywell AirGenius 4 multi-stage filter leaving only clean, breathable fresh air.

Pricing - The pricing is the biggest setback with a Honeywell AirGenius 4 HFD310 air purifier. It is very close to the top-tier Honeywell AirGenius 5, and the performance is not on par with other conventional HEPA air purifiers. It will take a longer time to capture pollutants in the air. If you can live with that, you will enjoy zero hassle (other than cleaning the ifD filter) and no recurring filter cost for years to come. Since you're already saving tons on the filter, you should consider upgrading to the odor-reducing pre-filter for a more comprehensive filtration.

Design - The market's most stylish, self-regulating, evaporative technology with air cleaning features. Honeywell HCM350 is a versatile UV humidifier that comes in either a black or white version. At a dimension of 15 x 23.6 x 8.2 in and 15.4 lb weight, it is not the most compact but certainly not bulky either. With barely any sharp corners, the ventless body defines the modern and stylish aesthetic well. You have a transparent 1-gallon water tank at the side with a wide opening for easy refilling. Carrying the water tank is also easy, thanks to the large recessed tank handle. Overall, the build quality is up there, especially with our all-time favorite break-resistant water tank.

Honeywell HCM350 Control Panel

Functionality - Moving on to the top controls and moisture output area. Operating Honeywell HCM350B could not be any easier. The entire operation is dominated by a single dial knob allowing fan speed adjustment. Turn the knob to the right to start the operation at a low speed or higher. Turning it in reverse will reduce the fan speed or deactivate the machine. There is also a tiny reset button that can be pressed after you have changed the UV light.

Given its compressed setup, it's no surprise that the airflow delivery rate and humidifying range are not that great. Honeywell HCM350B air purifier and humidifier limited coverage means it is only suitable for small room size. It is best to place it on the bedside table, top cabinet, or working desk for optimum results. Honeywell HCM350 1 gallon water tank can run up to 24 hours per filling. While the output might not seem a lot, there are still 3 selectable fan speeds for you to tinker around with. Low speed is ideal for nighttime use, medium speed for everyday operation, and High speed or fast humidifying. Again, there is no autonomous mode, so everything has to be done manually via the dial knob.

2-stage UV sanitization with 500 sq. ft of air cleaning.

Filtration - Besides helping you breathe and sleep better, here's why you should buy Honeywell HCM350B or HCM350W. It comes will the patented germ-killing setup that eliminates up to 99.9% of water-bred mold, bacteria, and spores. First, water in the reservoir will be sanitized by ultraviolet light that kills virtually every microorganism in the water. With germs, fungus, and viruses out of the way, the wicking filter will start absorbing the germ-free water. Finally, incoming dry air will remove the moisture through the filter and emit a fine visible mist. The whole process will repeat itself until every last drop of the water is out.

Noise and power - The cool-mist name tag will give you the best assurance on Honeywell HCM350B silent operation. Adding UV-light sanitizing also produces zero noise output; it is the perfect air purifier humidifier to place in your baby's room to silently manage the room humidity level. Power consumption is slightly high at 60 watts. This is partly due to the Ultraviolet light that requires more power than a non-UV model. No issue leaving it running the whole night.

Pricing - You would think an ultraviolet device would cost you at least more than 100. Honeywell HCM-350 UV dehumidifier once again surprises everyone with its super affordable price tag. You could easily get one online, between 60-80 dollars. As for the maintenance, replacing the UV light bulb is no issue at all with its 3,000 hours lifespan. However, it is more of a humidifier than an air purifier. HCM-350 is not a direct replacement for a HEPA air purifier as it lacks the HEPA and carbon filtration to do so. However, the wicking filter can be costly to replace as you need to fork out 11 dollars every 30-60 days. Honeywell is a major brand; thus, you can easily purchase it at any channel. We recommend replacing it sooner rather than later to avoid mold and bacteria growth on the machine.

Honeywell HCM350 is a one-of-the-kind, germ-free cool mist air purifier humidifier. It ensures indoor air is clean and humid so you can breathe better. It can also help reduce static electricity, relieve nasal congestion and cough. Get this if you want both an air purifier and a humidifier.

Honeywell AirGenius 3 HFD300 Air Purifier

Honeywell AirGenius 3 HFD300 Air Purifier Review

The older and so-called "entry-level" to AirGenius series. Honeywell AirGenius 3 HFD300 shares many design elements and specifications from the group. The air purifier is neither compact nor bulky at 11.5 x 29 x 11.5 in dimension and 13.5 lb weight. Going through the slim profile body, you will find a large honeycomb air inlet at the back and an air outlet at the front. The flask's wide bottom design was retained for better stability. Overall, the fitting is tight, but the lack of a bottom accent light is one of the few things you must compromise.

Let's begin the controls from left to right. The Check Filters Button allows you to check filter status with a single click. If you see the filter status in red color, press and hold the button for 3 seconds to reset the timer. Next, the Purification level button will cycle between Sleep (night use), General (everyday use), and Max (highest fan speed). The power button will turn on or off the air purifier (duh). To the right, Oscillate will activate side-to-side purifying for better circulation. If you have seen AirGenius 4 or 5 previously, you will notice that HFD300 controls are slightly empty. that is because there is no Light Dimmer button, Timer button, and speed are limited to 3 options.

Let's recap on the specification. You have a 3-stage permanent filtration with 3 cleaning settings. Timer, Oscillation, and check filters/ Reset Button. Finally, AHAM and ARB certified, Energy Star rated, and 5 years warranty.

As an entry-level to the series, the airflow delivery rate is actually OK for a permanent air purifier. Limit to 3 speeds; you can set the speed to either Sleep, General Clean, or Max. We recommend leaving it to General Clean for everyday use. On the other hand, 225 sq. ft. coverage is average; AirGenius 3 is probably best suited for small to medium room sizes. Again, no autonomous purifying, as mentioned earlier.

Honeywell AirGenius 3 CADR return is undoubtedly the weakest in its series. Starting with the 150 cfm for dust, 160 cfm for pollen, and 146 cfm for smoke. Despite dust CADR being the lowest, the air purifier fares quite well on large particles. Smoke CADR is the poorest, but for home use, it is A-OK.

AirGenius 3 QuietClean ifD technology is what this air purifier is all about. With no filter replacement needed, the pre-filter could easily trap large particles like dust. Next, the patented ifD filter would handle microscopic allergens as small as 0.3 microns. For smoke and chemicals, you have the option to switch to the odor-reducing pre-filter. Do note the filter is non-washable and requires quarterly replacing. There is also an Ionizer at the end that will release ions to merge with airborne particles. This caused the particles to fall from increased weight, and the ifD filter will take over. As with all permanent filters, regular maintenance is needed (vacuuming only). This would prevent the filter from being congested by contaminants.

HFD300 noise level is similar to other AirGeniuses despite the weaker airflow. As usual, noise is virtually silent at speed 1 (sleep mode) and audible but not too intrusive at speed 3 (Max). The same goes with power usage; it's at a low to a reasonable rate depending on the cleaning mode. Technically, it should use less than a lightbulb, but we have not tested it on that.

Honeywell AirGenius 3 is the cheapest in its series, although not by a whole lot. At this price, there are many more HEPA air purifiers with better performance. If you prefer to pay once at one go, HFD300 is THE ONE, thanks to zero annual filter maintenance. Given all that, we recommend opting for the higher-spec Honeywell AirGenius 4 or 5 model. Both are still available and offer better performance VS value return.

If you insist on getting Honeywell AirGenius 3, you're out of luck. Last we checked, most store from Amazon, Walmart, BestBuy, or even Honeywell does not carry it anymore. Instead, go with AirGenius 5, a much better version of 3. It is still available on Amazon with sales price, comes in 2 colors, and at a very minimal top-up. overall, Honeywell AirGenius 3 is a niche air purifier that most buyers know exactly what are they paying for.

Where Are Honeywell Air Purifiers Manufactured?

The manufacturer of air purifiers and air filters for over 75 years. Founded in 1906, Honeywell International Inc is an American advanced-technology company and the world's leading manufacturer of electric vaporizers. It manufactures aerospace, automotive products, industrial control systems, specialty chemicals, and engineered plastics. Since July 2002, Honeywell International Inc has been a subsidiary of Kaz; the parent company of Vicks, Duracraft, Bug-Off, Stinger, and Burg.

What To Look For In Honeywell Air Purifiers?

Every home needs a clean air environment, and Honeywell air purifiers can provide that. However, not every model is created equal, so when buying one, compare the features below thoroughly.

  • Dimension - From console, tower, to desktop size, Honeywell air purifier has it all. Think about where you intend to place the air purifier and pick the best model for the job. There is no use in getting a large air cleaner that you don't have the space for it.
  • Weight and portability - Honey air purifiers are on the lighter spectrum, given most of its models are relatively compact. With the built-in handle, you will have no problem moving it around.
  • Pricing - Honeywell air purifiers are comparatively cheap and typically fall between 100-300 dollars. You can get the best deals on Amazon, especially during seasonal sales and Black Friday.
  • Filter replacement cost - Perhaps the biggest concern here for most users. Honeywell filters are not the cheapest to maintain, especially for models that utilize more than 1 HEPA filter. Always compare the recurring filter cost first before settling down on a model.
  • Room size - It highly depends on the size of the model. In general, the smaller the model, the smaller the purifying coverage will be. So pick a model that can cater to your home.
  • Clean air delivery rate (CADR) - A numerical metric developed by AHAM to standardize the air cleaning measurement of residential air purifiers. Measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM), the higher the ratings, the quicker and more airborne pollutants will be removed.
  • Filtration and technology - Depending on the model, Honeywell air purifiers use different levels of filtration and technology to deal with airborne pollutants. Permanent ifD technology requires no filter change, but it is less effective than HEPA filtration, which removes microscopic particles as small as 0.3 microns.
  • Noise and energy usage - Generally on the lower end, so don't worry too much about this.
  • Usability and features - Varys depending on the type and price range. Only premium models come with a built-in sensor to support auto mode, sleep mode, and air quality monitor. Optional features include remote control, Bluetooth/ WiFi-enabled.
  • Warranty and after-service - Honeywell air purifiers warranty varies between 1-5 years, depending on the model. The more expensive the model, the likelihood of longer the warranty period. Being a big household name, there are plenty of service centers with prompt customer support for troubleshooting and repairs.

Is Honeywell A Good Brand?

Honeywell is a good air purifier brand because it has the reliability and long track record to back it up. Most Honeywell air purifiers are inexpensive, well-built, equipped with HEPA filtration, and solid performance e.g. Honeywell HPA300 with 300+ cfm CADR. It also regularly receives top ratings from reviewers all over the world.

How Does Honeywell Air Purifier Work?

Honeywell air purifiers use mechanical filtration to trap indoor pollutants in the air. For example, Honeywell HPA300 pulls air into its three-stage mechanical HEPA filtration via the internal fan motor. The carbon pre-filter will remove large particles, harmful toxin gasses like VOCs, and odors while protecting the HEPA filter from damage. The certified True HEPA filter traps 99.97% of pollutants in the air, as small as 0.3 microns, including pet dander, mold, pollen, bacteria, and viruses. Clean air will be distributed out, and the purification cycles will continue to prevent pollutants from building up.

Is Honeywell Air Purifier Filter Washable?

Not all Honeywell filters are washable. Some permanent, washable Honey filters, e.g. from Honeywell QuietClean Tower Air Purifier, can be vacuumed twice a year to extend the filter usage life by up to 5 years. Gently clean the Honeywell filter with a brush attachment. Do not attempt to wash and reuse a non-washable/ disposable True HEPA filter, carbon pre-filter, or activated carbon filter.

Do Honeywell Air Purifiers Produce Ozone

How Long Do Honeywell Air Purifiers Last?

Honeywell recommends replacing its True HEPA filter every 6-12 months. The permanent/ long-life HEPA filter has a longer usage life, between 3 to 5 years, depending on indoor air quality and usage. Lower grade HEPA Clean filters should be replaced every 4- 6 months. Carbon pre-filter will last around 3 months before requiring replacing.

Do Honeywell Air Purifiers Produce Ozone?

All Honeywell air purifiers do not generate ozone to clean and freshen the air. Models like Honeywell HPA300 do not have an ionizer; therefore 100% ozone-free. Models that utilize ionizers will emit a very insignificant amount of ozone byproducts under 0.01 ppm. It is compliant with the FDA/ California Air Resources Board (CARB) ozone-safe emission under 0.05 ppm and only applies when the ionizer is active.

Ozone gas is a harmful lung irritant that can be generated by some air purifiers, notably ozone generators. You will not find any Ozonator or ozone generator under the Honeywell air purifiers lineup.

Are Honeywell Air Purifiers Loud?

Honeywell air purifiers are not noisy, but that would depend on the model and mode it is running. For example, Honeywell HPA300 can be as loud as 68.7 dB when running in turbo mode, while Honeywell AirGenius 5 has a softer 56.1 dB noise level. If you're sensitive to noise, you can keep it quiet by running at the lowest fan speed.

If your Honeywell air purifier is making noise or running louder than usual, it is a sign that the filter requires replacing. Each filter has a limited capacity to hold dust, debris, dust mite, pet dander, mold, pollen, and germs. Replacing the filter would reduce the noise level to the previous state condition.

What Is The Best Setting For The Honeywell Air Purifier?

In general, 4 air cleaning settings can be found in Honeywell air purifiers: Germ, General Clean, Allergen, and Turbo. Each mode is progressively stronger, louder, and works depending on the home air quality. Germ mode is recommended for dealing with germs that cause cold & flu. General Clean is for everyday use, and Allergen mode is best used during the allergen season between late spring to mid-summer. Turbo mode is the most powerful air cleaning setting that turns the Honeywell air purifier to overdrive. It is also the loudest that produces over 60 decibels of fan noise.

Why Is The Red Light On My Honeywell Air Purifier?

The red light is the electronic filter change reminder or the "Check Filter" light. It is a timer that will alert you to clean/ change the filter when it is clogged or needs replacing. Once you have changed the filter, you can turn off the filter light by pressing and holding the reset button for 2-5 seconds. The "Check Filter" red light will flash twice to signal that the indicator light has been reset.
