The last one standing, Blueair 203 is the last of its Classic line that does not comes with Wi-Fi support yet manage to maintain its robust air flow and usability. Made with a long-lasting steel build quality, Blueair 203 is fairly comparable with Blueair 205 in relation to airflow delivery rate, applicable area, noise level and electricity consumption. Other than price factor, what exact advantage would make Blueair 203 remarkable and how dependable is the air purifier? Hit on the link below to check out our up-to-date review.
Blueair 203 is the last Classic model that still holds the previous Blueair design with grey theme rather than white. Make no mistake the design still looks clean and modern with a fairly small 43.2 x 53.3 x 24.1 in (109.7 x 135.4 x 61.2 cm) dimension. The galvanized steel body is tough, recyclable and does not contribute to chemical off-gassing although weight would have to suffer slightly at 24.3 lb (11 kg). Control wise is as simple as it gets without the Wi-Fi functionality, you have the side dial knob that controls on/ off and 3 airflow speed. Other specification from the air purifier includes a 3-stage filtration, HEPASilent Technology, quick filter replacement with no screws needed, filter replacement indicator, zero ozone emission, CARB certified, ENERGY STAR rated and 5 years warranty.
Airflow, CADR and everything in between
237 sq. ft. (22 m2)
59 - 150 cfm (100 - 255 m3/h)
For the price you paid, Blueair 203 has a rather below par 3 speed, airflow delivery rate (59 - 150 cfm) that also resulted a moderate 237 sq. ft. purifying coverage at 5 air charges per hour. While it is still ideal for bedroom use, most living hall, kitchen or even meeting room would be beyond the reach of Blueair 203.
155 cfm (263 m3/h)
155 cfm (263 m3/h)
155 cfm (263 m3/h)
With air flowing in from all angles (bottom, back and 2 sides), Blueair 203 has an estimated CADR of 155 cfm for dust, pollen and smoke. Not great but does the job within its purifying range. At this point we would jump ahead and suggest you to take a look at the higher performance Blueair 205 via the comparison link above.
What’s inside count
Blueair Classic 200/300 Series Particle Filter
6 - 12 months
Blueair Classic 200/300 Series SmokeStop Filter
6 - 12 months
Sharing the same filtration setup as Blueair 205, Blueair 203 hybrid electrostatic and mechanical filtration has an 99.97% efficiency rate against particles as small as 0.1 micron. All particles that flow inside the air purifier will be electrostatically charge and eventually trap by either the Particle filter or SmokeStop filter. The Particle filter will focus on mold, pollen, bacteria and other micron size allergens while SmokeStop filter will target smoke and odor based pollutants like tobacco smoke, pet odors, cooking fumes or VOCs chemical. Each filters is thermally bonded and design in gradient structure that prevent particles from escaping even under heavy load usage. Additionally the filters uses natural, waterproof anti-bacterial polypropylene fibers that inhibit bacteria and mold from growth. Lastly Blueair 203 would also help reduce surrounding ozone level through its purification.
Blueair 203 is covered against
Hair/ Pet hair

Keep it down
32 - 56 dB
20 - 80 W
Blueair 203 might have the weakest airflow delivery rate in the group, there is no extra advantage over the upper range models as the noise generated is at similar level. In short noise is subtle at low speed and audible but not overly loud at max speed. Power consumption wise is more energy-saving if you can keep the speed to the lowest setting but in real-life test though, its virtually identical to other Blueair Classic air purifier.
At what cost
Annual Filter Cost
+- 150 - 300
^ Blueair 203 replacement filters estimated cost
On paper Blueair 203 would lose out to the newer, more powerful, Wi-Fi ready Blueair 205 as the price differences is neglectable. However, if you include the sales price, discount or other online deal, purchasing does makes a whole lot sense. As for annual filter cost, Blueair 203 uses same filters set as 205 so the replacement cost is literally the same therefore it could be very expensive if your surrounding air quality is bad. Unlike other Blueair Classic air purifier that supports Blueair Aware monitor addon, Blueair 203 does not have the luxury to do so as it lacks Wi-Fi features.
Cheaper to own and maintain with wider purifying coverage. Lacks equivalent HEPASilent technology AKA Ionizer.

More on Blueair Classic 203
Blueair Classic 203 is a distinctive air purifier with its remarkable reliability and durability. To start with the air purifier design, the all-round familiar shape is alike most Blueair Classic models while controls are seamlessly attached at side where any sort of adjustment can be done without breaking a sweat. The reinforced steel exterior is meticulously screwed that there are definitely no crooked parts. Superb example of Blueair Classic 203 durability and reliability where owner can continue using the air purifier even after a long time frame.
Airflow performance and purifying coverage
Here is where Blueair Classic 203 different performance aspects come down to. Best for small room size with limited space, the constrained coverage is at an underperforming grade. In most situations, Blueair Classic 203 is the best air purifier for owner that only needs a constricted room such as office desk or bedroom. Continue with the purifying capability, Blueair Classic 203 has heaps of purifying capacity in close proximity. Airborne pollutants such as dust, pollen, mold, mildew, pet dander and fungus would now be entirely absorbed and contained by the air purifier.
Noise level and power consumption
Mainly designed and set up with minimal noise, Blueair Classic 203 noise is well contained that would be perfect for bedroom as it will not get in the way with the owner's sleep. Gentle noise at minimum fan speed while audible noise at max speed. When compare to other Bluair Classic models, Blueair Classic 203 noise level is slightly lower (better). As for power consumption, Blueair Classic 203 is a fine day-to-day air purifier that you will only see the significant difference when the air purifier is constantly running on maximum speed. Power usage is extremely low up to acceptable level at third speed. Again compare with other Blueair Classic models, Blueair Classic 203 electricity consumption is still fairly low.
