The office bound Blueair Pro M is assembled with high-efficiency airflow output within its compact body. It might be cheapest in the Pro series, Blueair Pro M is quite parallel with other air purifiers in terms of airflow delivery rate, applicable area, noise level and electricity usage. Does the small framework and extra premium value have adequate purifying effectiveness? Let's take a look at the air purifier and see what it can offer.

Design And Usability

Blueair Pro M dimension
20 x 17 x 10 in
(50.8 x 43.2 x 25.4 cm)
Blueair Pro M weight
26 lb (11.8 kg)

The smallest Bluair Pro series available, Blueair Pro M is a modern style, compact premium air purifier targeted for office use. At 20 x 17 x 10 in size and 27 lb weight, it’s also the most portable unit in its class. While Blueair Pro M is small in size, build quality remains at top with other Pro series air purifier along with standard equipment like 3-stage HEPASilent filtration, filter replacement indicator, LED indicator, zero ozone emission, CARB certified, Energy Star and 5 years warranty. Wi-Fi support is omitted yet there is no timer or remote control; the biggest letdown for a premium air purifier.

With no extra functionality, Blueair Pro M is very easy to use with only PLUS MINUS button to fiddle with. To turn on the unit simply click on the PLUS button and the air purifier will start in speed one. To increase or decrease between the 3 default speed, click on the respective PLUS/ MINUS buttons and the middle blue light bar will reflect the current speed instantaneously. If your have the Air Intelligence Module pre-installed, you can activate Auto mode by clicking on the PLUS button on speed 3 and the word AUTO will light up indicating the mode is active. To deactivate, simply click on the MINUS button. With AIM, there is also an enhanced two bar columns indicator that show the levels of airsuspended particles (PM2.5) and gaseous contaminants (GAS). 1 green bar means air quality is good while 3 bars (green, yellow and red) represent high level of particles or gas). Finally, a red filter light indicator will light up when filter replacement is needed.

Airflow, Coverage, And CADR

Blueair Pro M coverage
Purifying coverage
390 sq. ft. (36 m2)
Blueair Pro M fanspeed
While not its strongest suit, Blueair Pro M uses a single dedicated fan that delivers a good amount of airflow purifying. The sheer power of the [aairflow] airflow means Blueair Pro M can cater for [acoverage] coverage of room size at a maximum of 5 air charges per hour. Decent option for offices that needs something consistent and reliable. Despite the extra power, speed control is still limit to 3 even though each speed will have enough capacity in purifying the entire room swiftly.
Blueair Pro M dust CADR
285 cfm (484 m3/h)
Blueair Pro M pollen CADR
Pollen CADR
350 cfm (595 m3/h)
Blueair Pro M smoke CADR
Smoke CADR
250 cfm (425 m3/h)
Blueair Pro M CADR is at another level of its own. You have the dust CADR at [adustcadr], pollen CADR at a very impressive of [apollencadr] and smoke CADR at [asmokecadr]. Again there is a big gap between other Pro series air purifier where you could compare via the above link.

Filters And Performance

Blueair Pro M is under the Blueair family group so naturally it uses the same HEPASilent technology that delivers 99.97% effective rate against particles as small as 0.1 microns. It also uses the same waterproof, polypropylene fibers filter media that prevent particles/ germs from escaping or growth thanks to the V-shaped antibacterial design. How it works is Blueair Pro M combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration would first charge up any in-flowing particles. Charged particles will then get trap either by the particle filter (germs, bacteria and allergens) or SmokeStop filter (gas, smoke and odor). With all airborne pollutants out of the way, Blueair Pro M will only then released purified air that has even less concentrated ozone level than our breathing air.

Noise And Energy Usage

Blueair Pro M noise level

Power consumption
11 - 85 W
Blueair Pro M airflow performance might not be as ideal as we would hope, the 32 - 55 dB(A) noise level is certainly is. Barely audible at low speed and only around normal conversation noise level at high speed. The 11 - 85 W power consumption is reasonable depending on what speed and usage frequency the air purifier is in. Auto mode is nice to have but again as an reminder, Blueair Pro M does not comes with it by default.

^ Replacement filters/ estimated cost
The cheapest in Pro family yet not cheap enough to recommend. You probably would be better off with other alternate models (see below) that promises higher purifying coverage at lower cost including annual filter maintenance. In our humble option, we would also suggest going for the higher trim Pro L or XL as it delivers better performance VS value.

Winix HR1000
