Panasonic F-PXH55 review

  • Wide purifying coverage fully supported by the adaptable, 2 position 3D circulation airflow.

  • Sensitive Sleep mode that automatically adjust the brightness of control panel indicator when there is no indoor light source.

  • Excellent 10 years filter lifespan for composite and deodorising filter.

Panasonic F-PXH55 weight
5.8 kg (12.8 lb)

There are 3 colors for this particular model and I chose the black version as I personally think it is the most standout color among the bunch. With the size of 30 x 58 x 20.5 cm, I wouldn’t consider Panasonic F-PXH55 a small unit especially when it does not comes with a humidifier. However, at 5.8 kg in weight, F-PXH55 is light therefore making it a breeze to move this unit. You could easily carry this unit around with just one hand. The standing rectangular shaped exterior looks modern and elegant, but let down by the simple indicator that does not show the surrounding air quality in digital format. Other than that, the entire unit is solidly built, as with most Panasonic appliances.

Below is the comparison table between the 2 models that offered similar features and pricing.

ModelDimension (W x H x D)Weight
Philips AC4014/0135 x 62.3 x 19.6 cm6.1 kg
Panasonic F-PXH5530 x 58 x 20.5 cm5.8 kg

Like most Panasonic air purifiers, F-PXH55 used nanoe technology to stop and prevent bacteria from growing including the notorious H1N1. It can also remove bad odors, tobacco smells and form a protective layer to keep your skin moisture. With Econavi technology, the unit will operate automatically based on the pattern of your surrounding pollutions level without compromising on the effectiveness of the air purifier. All angle 3D circulation airflow that can capture dust and other allergens as low as 30 cm from the floor. A powerful suction that can quickly absorb pollutants through its front opening. Up to 10 years of life span for both composite filter & deodorizing filter. Under clean sign: Blue – clean; Red (small) – slightly dirty; Red (large) – dirty. My favorite: light sensor feature that will turn off the unit’s light when there is no one around. Comes with standard features such as child lock, sleep mode (8 hours). Spot air mode allows freely adjustable spot airflow for rapid cleaning. Lastly, a filter replace indicator that will remind you to change the filter when the filter is dirty.

Applicable area, airflow, noise level and power input

This is the strong point of Panasonic air purifier F-PXH55A especially with the affordable price range. The applicable area is huge at 42 m2. Airflow is excellent at 330 m³/h maximum, down to 150 m³/h and 60 m³/h minimum. Noise level is standard at 52 dB maximum, 32 dB and 18 dB minimum. Power input is slightly higher due to the stronger airflow, at 49 W maximum, down to 11 W and 7 W minimum.

Final thoughts

The lack of humidifying function will not be a big miss given its attractive price. However, there are other models that are setup with similar features together with attractive prices as well and one of it is the Phillips AC4014/01 air purifier. Since you can’t go wrong with either of them, I would suggest you to go with Panasonic F-PXH55A for the longer filter life span, go with Philips AC4014/01 for the wider applicable area (55 m2 VS 42 m2) or just go with the cheaper price model (based on the current market price).
