Design And Usability

Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N dimension
21.4 x 20 x 7 in
(54.4 x 50.8 x 17.8 cm)
Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N weight
19.4 lb (8.8 kg)

Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N is the enhanced version of SPA-780A with WiFi-enabled. At first look, you can barely see the differences between the two as it is the exact same air purifier that we loved. It is rather heavy at an unconventional, boxy 21.4 x 20 x 7 inches and 19.4 lb in weight. Rest assured, it is definitely wall-mountable. Upfront, you have the familiar swappable panel for any design you like. E.g. Peanuts Designs featuring Snoopy, Gustav Klimpt, Katsushika Hokusai, or Paul Frank. The front panel is also compatible with any previous MinusA2 series air purifier. Staying at the front, there is a 4 color mood light bar that many people tend to confuse as an AQ indicator. The Air inlet is located on all sides, with only 1 air outlet at the back. Staying at the back, you will find a top handle slot and 2 bracket holders for wall mounting. On the whole, build quality is top-notch, with no signs of off-gassing from the front cover.

The front black bar control panel is easily accessible even if you plan to hang it on a wall. Let’s go through the controls 1 by 1. The power button does what a power button does. The speed button will cycle between Silent, Low, Medium, High, and Turbo. A short press on the Mode button will cycle between Auto mode or Pollen mode. Press and hold the Mode button will reset the filter replacement indicator.

The Replace Filters Indicator will only illuminate when it is time to change the filters. The Mood Light button will either turn on or off the light bar. When the air purifier is in Auto or manual speed mode, the Mood Light bar would be in solid blue color. In Pollen mode, the Mood Light bar will cycle from blue – purple – light purple – pink. Lastly, the ion button will activate/ deactivate the Negative Ion Generator.

Rabbit Air MinusA2 control

With all the main buttons covered, let’s talk about the sensors. The Light Sensor will activate Sleep mode when the room is in complete darkness for more than 3 minutes. In Sleep mode, the fan speed is set to silent, and all indicator lights are off. Moving to the AQ indicator, you will find Odor and Particle Sensors working together. The AQI light will shift from blue (good), purple (medium), and red (poor) based on the surrounding air quality.

Like every other Rabbit MinusA2, you can control the sensitivity level. Press and hold the Speed + Mode button for three seconds to adjust the AQ sensitivity level. The Air Quality indicator and Auto Mode indicator light will blink on success. Continue by pressing the Speed button to choose the sensitivity level. Replace Filters – Low Sensitivity, Pollen Mode – Standard, Auto Mode – High sensitivity. Press and hold the Speed + Mode button again for 3 seconds to save the setting.

The WiFi enabled option is a unique feature that is only available in the N version. To start using the feature, download Rabbit Air App from Apple Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Follow each step 1-by-1. Upon successful connection, the Wireless Indicator switch from flashing to fix illuminated. Overall, the buttons on the air purifier are small, but you will unlikely to use them when you hang the air cleaner high on the wall. Remote control and your smartphone will play a more prominent role here.

There is a long list of features, so let’s recap everything again. 6-stage filtration, 5 speed plus Auto/ Pollen/ Sleep mode, remote control. Built-in wall bracket, Particle/ Odor/ Light sensor, multi-spectrum mood light, filter life indicator. Child Proof Safety Design that automatically stops operation when the panel is loosed. Passive features include Energy Star certification and a long 5 years warranty covering any manufacturer defects. Assuring peace of mind ownership.

Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N air purifier certified air cleaning performance will keep your home nice and clean. The wide 815 sq. ft. purifying coverage runs at 2 air changes per hour or every 30 minutes. It can cater to all residential room sizes, including the large living hall, bedroom, kitchen, basement, garage, playroom, nursery home, and small offices. For asthmatic and sick persons, you can drop the purifying coverage to 408 sq. ft. for a higher 4 air changes per hour or every 15 minutes. Supporting its wide purifying coverage are the 5 fan speeds that deliver optimum airflow speed between 58 to 218 cfm. The exact same output you will get in the SPA-780A model. Auto mode is available by default, where Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N would run intelligently at the right speed instead of you manually adjusting it. Sleep mode activates automatically when everything turns pitch black for a couple of minutes.

While Rabbit Air MinusA2 AHAM certified clean air delivery rate (CADR) is not the best in its segment, it's hardly surprising considering the number of filtration that slows the airflow movement. You have dust CADR at the highest 193 cfm, pollen CADR at 200 cfm, and smoke CADR at 180 cfm. It will have no issue removing airborne pollutants within a specific timeframe. Feel free to compare with other air purifiers and see how Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N fairs.

Filters And Performance

Like the non-WiFi variant, Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N air purifier uses a 6-stage air cleaning filtration that can remove all types of indoor allergens. The pre-filter blocks large particles like dust, hair, and lint and prevents them from passing through. Against finer particles that manage to sneak through, the medium filter captures them as small as 1 micron. For the finest particles at a microscopic level, you have the HEPA filter that removes 99.97% of allergens as small as 0.3 microns, including mold, mildew, pollen, and pet dander. For an even more comprehensive filtration, you can choose 1 of the 4 customizable filters ranging from Germ Defense Filter, Pet Allergy Filter, Toxin Absorber Filter, to Odor Remover Filter.

  • Germ Defense Filter - Best used for biological pollutants.
  • Pet Allergy Filter - Best used for pet allergens.
  • Toxin Absorber Filter - Best used for VOCs and chemical vapors.
  • Odor Remover Filter - Best used for smoke and odors.

The granular activated carbon filter absorbs toxic and odors, including cigarettes, VOCs, radon. Lastly, the negative ion generator disperses millions of negative ions that attach to positive ions pollutants in the air. The attached heavier pollutants will eventually fall from the increased weight for Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N to capture.

Changing Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N filters can be a chore when mounted high on the wall. Thankfully, you only need to do it every 1–2 years, depending on your indoor air quality. First, remove the front panel by pulling it upwards. Take out the filter case and remove each filter 1 by 1. To clean the pre-filter, use a brush nozzle and gently brush out the dust. Then reinsert the new filters in the following sequence: Pre-filter, Medium filter, HEPA filter, customized filter, and Carbon Filter. Reattach the filter case and front panel by pushing them inwards. Remount the air purifier and turn it on via the Rabbit Air app.

Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N is a powerful, quiet, and capable air purifier capable of filtering out any airborne contaminants in the room. There are no two ways about it. As a result, the 51.3 dB noise level is not at the lowest point, but it is not excessively loud that is impossible to use. Fortunately, auto/ sleep mode is available, where the air purifier will maintain a silent25.6 dB noise unless nearby high pollutants are detected. You can leave it on 24x7 in the background while you work, chill, and sleep comfortably without any disturbance.

Energy Star certified Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N power consumption is efficient for a large 6-stage air purifier. Thanks to the built-in sensor. Between 6 to 61 wattages or energy usage hourly, the auto mode would come nicely into play to ensure the air purifiers do not waste unnecessary energy. Similar segment air cleaners use 30-50% more electricity in the same environment. Depending on the state, energy cost is around $0.10-0.15 a day with about 12 hours of operation. The monthly electric cost is approximately $4.5 a month and $25-50 dollars a year. Standby mode is only at 0.5-watt power.

A premium 6-stage air purifier that offers so much more. Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA 780-N WiFi retail suggested +-$600 price tag is almost unattainable to most people. For those who can afford it, it offers a better value than SPA-780A unless you have absolutely no use of WiFi remote support. If you want a cheaper air purifier with stronger airflow, there are models from Levoit, Winix, Alen that you can go for. None of the brands mentioned offer a wall-mountable, 6-stage air cleaning device like Rabbit Air. There is simply no competition in its own unique segment. Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA 780-N annual filter replacement cost is only around $43-85 (after prorated), considering the many filters that need replacing. Most filters, including the HEPA filter, can last up to 2 years under ideal conditions. Just located some funds to replace the filter when the LED indicator light starts flashing.

There are limited places you can get your hands on Rabbit Air purifiers, let alone SPA-780N. Wee highly recommend you purchase it from Amazon as it is convenient, comes with installment options, free shipping (prime), bundled discounts, and a 30-days return policy if you have second thoughts. Rabbit Air's official website is also a good option with the best stock availability, 90-days money-back guarantee, direct shipping, and impeccable customer service.

Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N VS The Challengers

Airgle AG800

Airgle AG800

The "cheaper" alternative that provides equivalent design and filtration capacities. The cheaper annual filter cost comes with a weaker filter set without Titanium Pro system.

The popular premium segment air purifier that offers similar filtration performance yet it's way cheaper and easy to maintain in comparison. No Auto mode is the surprising big miss feature.

Final Thoughts On Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N

Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N has improved the already perfect 6-stage air filtration system with a fan-favorite WiFi option. We didn't realize how convenient it could be until we had used it. Like its non-WiFi variant counterpart, MinusA2 SPA-780N is excellent against dust, allergen, smoke, and odors and works wonders for those that are heavy smokers or suffer from asthma. The wall-mountable design is also a big plus for those that operate the air cleaner in a limited space. The only drawback is paying a premium price without accounting for any additional addons. Looking past that, the Rabbit Air MinusA2 SPA-780N air purifier would be a sensible choice and a good investment for the longevity of your health.

  • Comprehensive 6-stage filtration including Medium filter, HEPA filter, and customized filter.
