- True HEPA filter
- PlasmaWave™ Technology
- 4 fan speeds (Low, Medium, High, Turbo)

Pros
- Cheapest among the PlasmaWave series yet has equivalent airflow efficiency, coverage and performance.
- Plenty of great deal with discounted price tag (replacement model WAC5300-2 is out).
- 4-stage filtration with PlasmaWave Technology.
- Reliable True-HEPA filter that is effective in capturing dust, hair and other micron size pollutants.
- Same goes with Odor control carbon filter that would effectively capture odor typically from pets, cigarettes and cooking.
- 4 fanspeed + Auto mode that relies on the VOC sensors.
- Sleep mode that would also dimmed all indicator light.
Cons
- Only 1 year warranty as opposed to Winix Signature series that offer 5 years or FresHome series that offer 3 years.
- Top up a little bit more cash, you could opt for Winix WAC5500 that comes with a reusable/ washable true-HEPA filter.
- Odor carbon filter would also serve as a pre-filter which that not as effective as it sounds.
- Lacks remote control (applicable to newer model) compare with the very similar Winix WAC5500.
- No direct button to turn off PlasmaWave purifying. You could disable it though by holding the power button down for 3-5 seconds.
- Hassle and requires constant filter change on the 3 months deodorization carbon filters.
- No pre-set timer setting for people that likes to leave the machine on 24/7.
The starters
Sharply defined yet not over minimalist, Winix PlasmaWave 5300 comes in comprehensive packages within its typical boxy shaped which you should be accustomed to. At an average 16.2 x 21.8 x 8.5 in size and 15 lb weight for a mid-range air purifier, build quality is superb that parts are well fitted and screwed together. Standard features include 4-stage filtration (pre-filter, Odor control carbon filter, true-HEPA filter, PlasmaWave Technology), 4 fan speeds with auto/ sleep mode, LED indicator light, a replacement filter indicator that alert user to swap for a new filter once its fully exhausted (limited to the HEPA-filter), a year’s worth of carbon filter (4-pack bundled) and complies with California Air Resource Board regulated on any ozone emission, AHAM checked, ENERGY STAR rated.

What’s inside count
Winix PlasmaWave 5300 reliable filters with PlasmaWave technology offer excellent 4-stage filtration that you could count on. Firstly the combination effort between pre-filter and odor control carbon filter would effectively removes large particles and bad odors from smoke, pet litter. The True HEPA filter is capable of blocking 99.97% of micron-size airborne pollutants from its surrounding air. Finally, the PlasmaWave would break apart stubborn particles that manage to by-pass all of the filters into a perfectly non-toxic compound.Keep it down

Winix PlasmaWave 5300 VS the challengers

Winix 5300-2
Winix 5300-2 is of course the direct challenger as it is the newer version which offers the greatly miss timer. It’s expensive although not by a significant margin.
Winix 5500
Winix 5500 could be the perfect alternative with extra remote control and washable True-HEPA filter. There is a slight increase in pricing which isn’t too much in our humble opinion.
